CHAPITRE III - The honeymoon.
When the holidays ( name-days ? ) and the ceremonies of the marriage are ended (after the puberty), at night of the tenth day only, the husband remains alone with his wife; he ( it ? ) sends him ( her ? ) soft words, attracts ( entices ? ) him ( her;it ? ) to him and presses her ( it ? ) slowly on his ( its ? ) breast, at first in the way which the girl likes best, and every time during some moments only.
Then, he ( it ? ) proceeds to touches and begins at first with the height of the body, because it is easier ( more well-to-do ? ) and simpler.
If the girl is shy and completely ignorant, and if he ( it ? ) is not familiarized with her yet, he ( it ? ) will try his ( its ? ) first caresses in the darkness. If she ( it ? ) is allowed make, he ( it ? ) will put in him ( her ? ) in the mouth a bamboula (nut and sheet ( leaf ? ) of bétel); he ( it ? ) will use ( wear out ? ) all his ( its ? ) eloquence to make her ( it ? ) to him ( her ? ) accept; if necessary, he ( it ? ) will kneel down before her; because we know that a woman, whatever is her shyness or her anger, never push away ( repel ? ) the man who is pleading in his feet.
While giving to him ( her ? ) the bamboula, he ( it ? ) will kiss her ( it ? ) on the mouth slowly and friendly. Then he ( it ? ) will make her ( it ? ) cause ( talk ? ), by sending him ( her ? ) questions on things which he will tell not to know and which she can explain in some words. If she does not answer, he ( it ? ) will not hasten her ( it ? ); he ( it ? ) will repeat his ( its ? ) questions softly, and will press her ( it ? ) to answer by flattering ( patting ? ) it; because, says Govakamoukka, « the girls listen to quite men ( people ? ), but silently. »
By means of authority, he ( it ? ) will obtain that she answers, at least by signs of head. When he will ask him ( her ? ) if she likes ( loves ? ) him ( it ? ), if she wishes it, for a long time she ( it ? ) will keep silent; then, finally, due to being pressed ( in a hurry ? ), she ( it ? ) will eventually approve of the head.
Friendly, present one for the occasion, can answer for her, and even will make him ( her ? ) say more that she said, what the girl of which will scold her ( it ? ) by smiling, and while throwing ( casting ? ) to her husband a glance of permission.
If the girl is familiar with her husband, she ( it ? ) will put in him ( her ? ) in the neck a festoon of flowers, following the desire that he ( it ? ) will have expressed him ( her ? ); he ( it ? ) will take advantage of this moment to get ( touch ? ) him ( her ? ) bosoms and tickle them with fingers. If she ( it ? ) prevents him ( it ? ) from it, he will say to him ( her ? ): I shall not begin again any more, but on condition that you will hold me kissed ( embraced ? ).
When she ( it ? ) will be in this position, he ( it ? ) will cross ( spend ? ) him ( her ? ) the hand repeatedly on the neck and quite all around. From time to time, he ( it ? ) will place her ( it ? ) on the knees, will press her ( it ? ) on his ( its ? ) breast, and will try hard to obtain his ( its ? ) assent to the union. If she does not want to give up, he will threaten it to make on her and on himself marks ( brands ? ) for arms and for bosoms with nails and teeth, and to say then that it is her ( it ? ) who made them to him ( her ? ).
Next two nights, as the girl confides ( entrusts ? ) and gives way more, he ( it ? ) will caress ( cherish ? ) her ( it ? ) by all the body with hands and will cover her ( it ? ) everywhere with kisses; he ( it ? ) will place him ( her ? ) hands on thighs and will feel ( get ? ) them slowly. From there, he ( it ? ) will pass in aînes; if she ( it ? ) spreads ( pushes aside ? ) the hands, he will say to him ( her ? ): what evil is there in it? And will decide on her ( it ? ) to let him ( it ? ) make.
This obtained favour, he ( it ? ) will get ( touch ? ) him ( her ? ) genitals, he ( it ? ) will remove ( untie ? ) his ( its ? ) belt and the knot which holds ( retains ? ) its lower garment, and will mass ( massage ? ) the height of the thighs put in bare. All this will be made under different excuses, but without beginning the union. Then he ( it ? ) will teach him ( her ? ) sixty four manners of Kama, by expressing him ( her ? ) all his ( its ? ) love and all that he hopes for of her. He ( it ? ) will promise him ( her ? ) allegiance for ever, and will assure ( insure ? ) it that she ( it ? ) will be without rival.
Finally, having overcome his ( its ? ) shyness, he ( it ? ) will consume the union and will enjoy her without frightening him ( it ? ).
So by acting, according to the capacities of a girl, the man gains ( wins ? ) his love and his confidence.
We do not succeed either by an absolute submission or by a rough violence made for the will of the woman; the prudish error, as knowing nothing in the heart of the women, the man who holds too much account of its refusals; and on the other hand, the raped girl takes in hatred the one who missed cares for her [41].
[ Note 41: Pariahs delivers their hardly nubile daughters, so that their virginity is materially demonstrated.
It's the same Arabs of Algeria.
In these conditions, the consumption of the marriage is a real rape.
The marriage before the whole development, joined has the excess of the work, made that the Arabic women are small and sick while the men ( people ? ) are big and strong.]
